Two needle plate options are available for the Brother overlocker 2014d, 3034d, and 4234d One has a step on the base, or this one with no step, which has a flat base, except for the location pin.
One of our images shows a close-up of the base. You can see the base has NO step and is flat (apart from the location pin). Please check the needle plate you are removing, and make sure it is the flat base type.
