This is the part which covers the feed dog. It screws into place and is for sewing zig-zag stitches and patterns. When the sewing needle starts to damage the needle hole edge in the metal plate the stitching will become uneven. This is when the needle plate needs to be replaced. The metal needle plate screws on to place on the larger metal bed plate on the Innovis models listed.
