Dylon Hand Wash Fabric Dye
Delivery: 3-4 Working Day(s) (Next day optional)
Expected Delivery Date is Thursday, November 7th
We've all got things around the house and in our wardrobe that if it wasn't our favorite item, it would have been thrown in the bin a long time ago...Don't do it! Dylon hand wash can restore it to its former glory with no hassle. Just think, that worn out top could be given a new lease of life!
Dylon Hand Multi-Purpose Dye. Wish you hadn't left that red sock in with your underwear wash, this Dylon Multi-Purpose Dye is the perfect solution; it dyes cotton, linen, polyester and viscose mixes beautifully. 1 packet is suitable for up to 250g dry weight of fabric.
Suitable fabrics: cotton, linen, viscose, wool, silk.
Polyester/cotton, polyester/viscose and other polyester mixes will result in lighter shades.
SIMPLE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Weigh dry fabric. Wash thoroughly. Leave damp
2. Using rubber gloves, dissolve dye in 500ml warm water
3. Fill bowl/stainless steel sink with approx 6 litres warm water (40oC) (NB we do not recommend a bath and dye may stain some plastic containers)
4. Stir in 250g (5tbsp) salt (this opens up the pores of the fabric and allows the dye to be absorbed).
5. Add dye & stir well
6. Submerge fabric unfolded in water
7. Stir for 15 mins, then stir regularly for 45 mins
8. Rinse fabric in cold water until water runs clear then wash separately in warm water.
9. Dry away from direct heat and sunlight
10. Wash separately for first few washes to remove any excess dye.
Not suitable for: 100% Polyester, Nylon and other synthetics
If the colour of the fabric you want to change is very strong we recommend using DYLON Pre-Dye which will leave you with a blank canvas to dye any colour you choose.
MIXING COLOURS:
Popular for tie-dying and used in patchwork and quilting fabric dyes packs can be used to blend colours, see examples below.
Red + Blue = Purple
Blue + Yellow = Green
Red + Yellow = Orange
Used as a solid single colour dye, you can use DYLON Pre-Dye to return a fabric to a neutral shade before dyeing to obtain the colour close to that shown on the pack.
