This Silver 1045 uses the jam-proof, magnetic, top-loading, full rotary hook system eliminating the need for a removable bobbin case.

A softcover is included; however what the pictures and images don't show is how smooth the machine is when it's running at speed. The hook system is the high quality rotary type, made for a lightweight machine thats quiet when in use. The extra wide feed is another plus...the fabric feed has two extra teeth in front of the needle which helps pull the fabric through when starting to stitch from the edge when making patchwork or whilst quilting.

2 Stitch selection types  - Direct or Patterns: 'Direct' are the every day utility stitches like straight, zigzag or overedge and selection is direct by pressing the button on the key pad next to the stitch image.   All the stitches and patterns can be viewed quickly on the handy pull out cards.
	'Patterns' selection can be used to choose a more complex stitch type, for example a scallop, quilting or cross-stitch pattern. Stitch selection is via the stitch number which will be shown on the LCD screen and width or length can be adjusted as needed. The screen also tells us which presser foot to use for the selected stitch, as well as icons for functions like needle up/down.
