Janome 740DC Sewing Machine

The 740DC is a sewist delight, it is a lightweight and durable sewing machine, it has a top-loading jam-proof bobbin system and a sleeve arm for circular sewing on cuffs, shoulders, or taking up trouser hems.

But that's not all, the Janome 740dc is a computerised model and features 40 pre-programmed stitches including an automatic one-step buttonhole system. It has both stitch width and length adjustment via a simple press of the panel keys. A drop feed facility is handy for freehand embroidery and darning. The LCD screen displays the stitch settings, and the large stitch selection keys make the overall selection and usage more streamlined.

What is the difference between the 740DC vs 780DC?

The main difference is the 780DC offers the ability to cut both the top and bottom bobbin thread after a seam at the press of a button on the front panel. The 740DC has 40 stitches, whereas the 780DC offers 80 stitch options. They both have important utility functions, like, 3 style of buttonhole, lock stitch and 5x pattern elongation. Some of the extra stitches include a closed stretch stitch, x-stitches, antique quilting stitch, and a selection of lovely patterns.

Janome 740DC sewing machine offers a stitch width selector and press button reverse. Other features include a drop-in bobbin, easy stitch selection, lay-in threading system, free arm design, needle threader, and maximum speed control lever.

Also a must-have is the auto-declutch bobbin winder as is the hardcover, so you know the machine can be left safely under its protective cover while not in use. Weight is only - approximately 6kg making it light enough for easy lifting, yet strong for heavy sewing jobs.

A pull-out stitch reference chart is accessed from the right side just below the handwheel, as one of our images shows. It shows available stitches, which helps select the correct one using the LCD screen and function keys. 

While threading the top thread, use the built-in needle threader, but there is also a helping hand while inserting the bobbin. After dropping the bobbin into place, follow the thread arrow, and like magic, the thread end will be trimmed off to the correct length to start stitching straight away. 

The Sewist 740DC uses Janome's quick-set top bobbin, to make loading the bobbin faster and less cumbersome, it even trims off the bobbin thread end at the correct length ready to start stitching as soon as the bobbin cover is located in place.
